What Will SigEp Give Me?
There are numerous benefits to not just being Greek, but being a SigEp.

A Feeling of Belonging
The Greek Advantage:

Many students at MSU feel as if they are alone. Residence halls claim to provide a "home", but they really don't go far enough. Many students fail to complete college simply because of this feeling. Greek organizations provide friends and a support system during your college years. And after graduation, fraternities provide a place to come back to, meet old friends, and share new experiences. Residence halls cannot provide this.
The SigEp Advantage:
Being a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, you have a support group of 90+ of MSUs best and brightest young men whom you are now associated with. In SigEp, the opportunity exists to make meaningful, lifelong friendships through sharing meaningful, constructive experiences - not through hazing, harassment, or other demeaning activities. And it extends beyond MSU; Sigma Phi Epsilon houses across the nation serve as alumni’s home away from home, no matter what university they claim, a great benefit to have from the nation's largest fraternity.

Academics
The Greek Advantage:
Less than half of non-Greek students graduate from college within six years. Greek students, on the other hand, graduate at a 70% rate nationally. Greek students at MSU consistently perform well above the all-campus GPA.
The SigEp Advantage:
Sigma Phi Epsilon at MSU has consistently performing above the all-campus average GPA. Monitored class room attendance, study hours, academic speakers, and thorough use of university academic resources all help to ensure that SigEps perform at their academic best. When it comes to academics, we recruit the best, and we expect the best. We also have the highest required GPA on campus with 2.85.

Athletics
The Greek Advantage:

When living in a fraternity, a member will have a great opportunity to play a pick-up game of basketball with his brothers, or compete in numerous intramurals throughout the year.
The SigEp Advantage:
A significant part of the Balanced Man Program is the "Sound Mind, Sound Body" initiative. By upholding this standard SigEp has been the university intramural champion 3 years in a row and 5 of the last 6 years.  We participate in all sports offered on campus and normally find ourselves on top.  Championships the past years have include: Football, Hockey, Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Golf, Weight Lifting, Volleyball, Tennis, Ping Pong, and 9-ball.

Leadership
The Greek Advantage:

Greeks dominate as student leaders on Missouri State’s campus. Greek students are leaders in groups ranging from the student government association to major-specific organizations. In addition to campus activities, our Greek organizations are organized and self-governed by MSU students. Whether it's planning homecoming activities, building a web page, or simply helping on a community service project, you'll develop skills that will directly benefit you in life.
The SigEp Advantage:
In today's competitive employment world, businesses today place a premium on people with leadership ability in addition to classroom performance, and SigEp leads the way among fraternities in campus involvement. To name a few position where a SigEp has been a leader this past year include: Intra-Fraternity Council (IFC), Greeks Advocating for the Mature Management of Alcohol (GAMMA), Student Orientation And Registration (SOAR), Construction Club, Student Activities Council, Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  Not only that, but in recent years, MO Eta SigEp has produced an MSU student body president as well as a Homecoming King.

Community Service
The Greek Advantage:

One of the great things about Greek Life is the continued support of the community. Many Greek organizations have regular community service projects that they regularly contribute to, you cannot find that kind of provided programming in other student organizations.
The SigEp Advantage:
Sigma Phi Epsilon has been an active participant in community service work for many years. We pride ourselves as the #1 Greek organization in community service, getting well over 2,000 hours as a chapter each year.  The philanthropic organization which we contribute to is the Missouri Special Olympics (SOMO). In support of SOMO, our members travel to Joplin every fall help facilitate the regional Special Olympic chapters with their sporting events. We also raise and donate several thousand dollars each year to SOMO.

Social Opportunities
The Greek Advantage:
Undoubtedly, one of the main benefits of the Greek system are the social opportunities that one can find in fraternity or sorority living. There are no better times found than those spent in the myriad of activities that Greek life has to offer.
The SigEp Advantage:
Sigma Phi Epsilon offers the most complete social calendars in the MSU Greek system. Formals, brotherhood events, and sorority exchanges are just a few of the opportunities that Sigma Phi Epsilon offers to meet people and enhance social skills. We are proud of our reputation as the most social fraternity on campus; there is never a dull moment.

Career & Networking
The Greek Advantage:
Everyone comes to college with the same eventual goal in mind: to secure a good job after graduation. Greeks nationally have achieved some noteworthy accomplishments in their career fields.
The SigEp Advantage:
Sigma Phi Epsilon members are constantly seeking to improve their future employability by actively seeking out internships and other means to enhance their skills. Numerous members hold down internships in a wide variety of career fields. Also, in todays job market, who you know can be as valuable as what you know. A strong percentage of SigEp graduates land their first job as a result of the Sigma Phi Epsilon alumni network of which they are now a part.
